Caramel Brownies

“These brownies were some of our all time favorites as we were growing up. Mom made them pretty frequently. ” – Chrissy

Caramel Brownies

  • 1/2 cup canned milk
  • 35 caramels
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 chocolate fudge cake mix
  • 1/2 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
  1. In medium bowl, melt milk and caramels in microwave until mixture is smooth, stirring at 1 minute intervals.

  2. In separate bowl combine melted butter with cake mix. Depending on cake mix type, you may need to use a little more butter. Batter consistency should not be very crumbly.

  3. Press 1/2 cake mixture into 9×13 pan. Spread caramel over top, and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Drop spoonfuls of remaining cake mixture over top. Sprinkle nuts in between spoonfuls of cake mixture.

    Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes.
