Chewy Chocolate Cookies

  • 1 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup hershey's cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 package peanut butter chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350.

    Cream butter and sugar in large mixer bowl.

    Add eggs and vanilla; blend well.

    Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.

    Gradually blend into creamed mixture.

    Stir in nuts or peanut butter chips if desired.

    Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

    Bake for 8 to 9 minutes. Do not overbake. Cookies will be soft. They will puff during baking, and flatten upon cooling.

    Cool on cookie sheet until set. About 1 minute; remove to wire rack to cool completely.

    Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
