Grandma Joyce Hagens Bread
“When I was growing up my mom didn’t make bread real often, but when she did it was a real treat. She told me that she learned to make it from a German woman who lived next door to her in one of the many places she and my dad lived when they were newly married. The woman couldn’t speak English very well so she had to show mom more than tell her. You will notice the absence of exact measurements, but it was the way mom had learned. After mom passed away, I wanted to make her bread. Since I had grown up watching her make it, I did my best to come up with some of the measurements.” – Mama J
