Molasses Crinkles
“These cookies are one of our favorites. My mom and I used to make them when I was growing up. They were good to send to Josh when he was in Iraq because they kept so well. They stay soft and are good to dip in tea, coffee, or milk. I usually doubled the recipe.” – Mama J
Molasses Crinkles
- 3/4 cup margarine (not butter)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp molasses
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 cups flour
Heat oven to 375
Cream margarine and brown sugar.
Add egg and molasses.
Gradually add remaining dry ingredients.
Mix well.
Roll into balls the size of a walnut, dip top in granulated sugar, press down with flat bottomed glass.
Bake for 12-15 minutes.
Makes 3-4 dozen.
