Sugar Cookies

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  1. Cream together first three ingredients.

  2. Stir in the water and vanilla.

  3. Sift together the dry ingredients and gradually stir into the creamed mixture.

  4. Chill dough for 1 hour or more.

  5. Roll out and cut into shapes with cookie cutters.

  6. Bake at 425 for 5-7 minutes.
